U.S. student debt is at a record high, hitting $1.6 trillion in 2019. About 44 million students borrow to pay for college, with the average undergrad borrowing about $30,000. 

So, students desperately need help paying for college. Fortunately, many companies and organizations are willing to do their part in helping students by sponsoring scholarships. 

And there are many different types of scholarships to suit every student. For example, this week’s featured scholarships are aimed at students pursuing business, photojournalism and law.

Chad Everett Harris Scholarship

Chad Everett Harris, an entrepreneur, has launched the Chad Everett Harris Scholarship program in an effort to encourage the next generation of entrepreneurs. He is offering three scholarships of varying amounts to U.S. or Canadian students who are studying business or planning on doing so.   

To apply, those interested must submit an application, including a 500-word essay on how entrepreneurship has changed and the impact of technology.

Award: $3,000, $2,000 & $1,000

Eligibility: 

• Must be a citizen of either the United States or Canada
• Must be either currently enrolled in or planning to enroll in a U.S. or Canadian college or university

Getty Images Inclusion Scholarships

Getty Images has launched the Getty Images Inclusion Scholarships aimed at promoting diversity and inclusion within the photographic and photojournalism industries. The company has partnered with five organizations — Women Photograph, Creative Access, National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ), Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) — to award five scholarship grants, each in the amount of $10,000.

To apply, those interested must submit an application, including their academic credentials, a personal essay that speaks to their commitment to photojournalism and 15-20 examples of their work.

• For the Getty Images and Creative Access award, applicants must be an undergraduate or grad student from black, Asian and other non-white minority ethnic candidates (or BAME) attending an accredited university in the UK, with at least one year of school remaining, beginning in the fall of 2020
• For the Getty Images and NABJ award, applicants must be an undergraduate or grad student attending an accredited college or university in the United States with at least one year of school remaining, beginning in the fall of 2020
• For the Getty Images and AAJA award, applicants must be an undergraduate or grad student attending attending an accredited college or university in the United States
• For the Getty Images and NAHJ award, applicants must be an undergraduate or grad student attending an accredited college or university in the United States with at least one year of school remaining, beginning in the fall of 2020

Rizio Lipinsky Lawyer Scholarship

Rizio Lipinsky, a California law firm specializing in personal Injury and employment law, is accepting applications for its 2020 Rizio Lipinsky Lawyer Scholarship. The firm seeks to award one scholarship in the amount of $10,000 to a current or future law student in the United States.

The 2020 Rizio Lipinsky $10,000 Law School Scholarship is open to U.S. residents planning to attend law school for the 2020/2021 academic year, or those currently enrolled in law school, who will still be in school for the 2020/2021 year.

To apply, those Interested must submit an essay of 1,000 words or less in which they should explain why they are inspired to become an attorney, and how they plan to use their law degree to fight for justice for others.

Eligibility: 

• Must be a U.S. citizen
