Fiverr, a leading online marketplace for freelance services with a mission “to revolutionize how the world works together,” has just launched its Fiverr Logo Maker Scholarship to support both female entrepreneurs and female students.
Student debt in the United States surpassed $1.7 trillion this quarter. Women bear a heavier burden, though. They hold 58 percent of all student loan debt and take an additional two years on average to pay off student loans even though they make higher monthly payments, according to the Education Data Initiative.
“As a commitment to our values, we are taking the potential of the Fiverr Logo Maker and extending it to support women students and women-owned businesses, for whom the opportunities provided by both the scholarship and the platform are important,” said Michelle Baltrusitis, Fiverr’s social impact manager.
Launched in 2020, the Fiverr Logo Maker is an advanced automated logo maker tool that makes it possible for small businesses to get a premium logo and simplify their branding efforts quickly and easily.
“Automation will not replace human imagination and creativity; rather, the technology’s impact will be in supporting and enhancing fundamental human capabilities,“ said Micah Kaufman, Fiverr’s CEO and founder.
The company has partnered with the Women’s Center For Entrepreneurship (WCEC), a nonprofit organization that supports female entrepreneurs, to provide six women-owned small businesses with a pool of logo designs submitted by applicants to the scholarship program.
“The WCEC Women’s Business Center is a go-to resource for women and BIPOC entrepreneurs. We provide business counseling and access to capital for micro-business owners from startup to scale-up. We are thrilled to partner with Fiverr’s Logo Maker Scholarship to provide six small businesses participating in our eCommerce Expansion Program with professional logos to boost sales,” said Rana Shanawani, WCEC’s executive director.
“Partnering with Fiverr outside of this program has allowed our clients to receive credits to hire freelancers who can assist with projects, after receiving consulting from the WCEC. This partnership is a jewel in the crown of partnerships that serve underserved communities,” Shanawani added.
The Fiverr Logo Maker Scholarship is open to current high school seniors, trade school students, undergraduate and graduate students who identify as female and reside in the United States.
The scholarship offers three rounds, with each round featuring two different women-owned businesses in need of logos.
To apply for the scholarship, interested students must choose one of the two women-owned businesses featured for the specific round, create three different logo designs that depict its name and purpose, and explain how each of their logo designs represents their chosen business.
Students may apply to any one or all of the three rounds.
The deadlines for the three rounds are January 31, 2023, April 30, 2023 and June 30, 2023.
Fiverr will select five finalists from each round.
The top two finalists will win $5,000 in scholarship funds. Additionally, the 15 finalists will earn an invitation to join Fiverr’s exclusive Logo Maker platform, which will give them the opportunity to earn passive income by uploading their logo designs.
