Call me basic I know, but Clueless is one of my all time favorite movies. Whenever I need a good pick me up, a good laugh, or just don’t know which movie to watch, Clueless is always there for me! Since I first watched this movie as a young girl, a lot of the things mentioned went right over my head. But, now having high school behind me and finally understanding the mindset of teenage girls, it all makes sense! Cher Horowitz really did know what she was talking about, although she had a crazy way of saying it sometimes.
Here are some life lessons that Clueless has taught me:
1. Dress to Impress
Dressing up will always put you in a good mood. This will make you feel good about yourself so you can put your best foot forward and take on what life is about to throw at you. Start the day by getting up and getting dressed. Don’t roll to work or class in your pajamas… Cher would not approve.
2. Always Help Others
The good you do comes back to you… Take the time out of your day to be nice to everyone and help out those in need. Whether it is taking a new student under your wing or collecting food and clothes for those displaced from their homes, it makes a difference!
3. Never Settle
You know exactly who and what you deserve. Never stoop down to a low level – you’re better than that! Fight for what you think you deserve and never take no for an answer!
4. Find People Who Share Your Common Interests
Cher and Dion are like two peas in a pod. They have been friends for life because of common interests. It is great to branch out and meet different kinds of people, but ultimately you have to make sure that they have your same morals and values.
5. Don’t Let Others Underestimate You
Don’t let people judge you based on how you appear from the outside. Or, if you know you’re right and people are doubting your ideas, prove them wrong! Don’t let her fool you – Cher knows her stuff about Hamlet.
6. Don’t Take Driving Lightly
Driving is a privilege and a huge responsibility. Don’t be like Cher and drive without a license or knock over plants… your life and the lives of others are in danger, so please be responsible behind the wheel. Cher sure learned her lesson after failing her first road test…
