BestColleges Opens 2025 Scholarship for Black Women in STEM

The BestColleges 2025 Scholarship for Black Women in STEM is open for applications.

The company launched the scholarship program in 2023 to support Black women pursuing STEM careers.

“At BestColleges, we believe that supporting historically excluded students is important,” said BestColleges Editor Lorraine Mumby. “Black women have been historically excluded in STEM, and our goal in offering the scholarship is to help ease the financial roadblocks to success in these fields.”

The company will award up to five scholarships in the amount of $6,000 each this year.

The scholarship is open to students who have been accepted to or will be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited college or university in the United States for the 2025-26 academic year.

To qualify, applicants must identify as a cisgender, transgender or gender non-conforming Black woman, be pursuing a STEM-related field, be at least 17 years of age and be a legal resident of the 50 U.S. states or the District of Columbia.

To apply, students must write an essay of not more than 500 words on why they are pursuing a STEM degree and how they will impact the world through their desired STEM career.
