Administered by the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, the WW Dissertation Fellowships in Women’s Studies are designed to support students conducting research about women that crosses disciplinary, regional, or cultural boundaries. Applicants must be pursuing a PhD, have completed all pre-dissertation requirements, be writing on issues related to women, gender, women’s studies or feminist/gender/LGBTQ theory, be enrolled in a graduate school in the United States, and expect to complete the PhD by summer of the following year.

ConnectHER Film Festival Scholarship – $5,000

Visiting Scholars must be graduate students, young professionals, and artists from abroad to research and study in the United States for one year or longer at U.S. universities or other appropriate institutions. Each year, the application period opens in February and closes in mid-September.

Prism Foundation Scholarships – $1,000-$5,000

The Prism Foundation is an organization that works to explore and address critical issues that affect the Asian and Pacific Islander LGBTQ+ community. As part of its commitment to this goal, the foundation provides scholarships to students who have made a demonstrable impact on the Asian & Pacific Islander and LGBTQ+ communities. Applicants do not need to identify as LGBTQ+ or Asian/Pacific Islander in order to apply. Furthermore, students in all fields are welcome to apply.

NEWH Diversity in Hospitality Scholarship – Varies

The Diversity in Hospitality Scholarship is open to both domestic and international students pursuing a major and career objective within the hospitality industry. Applicants must be actively enrolled in a two-year, four-year, or graduate program, meet a minimum overall GPA requirement of 3.0 (or 83-86% equivalent), and demonstrate financial need. Priority will be given to students who identify with an under-represented group in the industry.

SMART Scholarship for Service Program – $25,000-$38,000

Funded by the Department of Defense, the Science, Mathematics, and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship for Service Program offers scholarships for undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students who are currently pursuing a STEM degree. The program is open to citizens of the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, or the United Kingdom. AAUW International Project Grants – $5,000-$7,000

The American Association of University Women (AAUW) offers grants to alumni of its International Fellowship program to help them build on their academic work and continue projects that will improve the lives of women and girls. Applicants must have have successfully completed an AAUW International Fellowship, have citizenship in a country other than the United States, and be the primary director of the project.

AAUW International Fellowships – $18,000-$30,000

The AAUW International Fellowships provides support for women pursuing full-time graduate and postgraduate studies in the United States to women who are not U.S. citizens or permanent residents, and who intend to return to their home country to pursue a professional career. A limited number of awards are also available for study outside of the U.S. (excluding the applicant’s home country) to women who are members of Graduate Women International (see the list of GWI affiliates). Applicants must have earned the equivalent of a U.S. bachelor’s degree by the application deadline and must have applied to their proposed institutions of study by the time of the application.

Vicki and George Muellner Scholarship for Aerospace Engineering – $5,000

The Vicki and George Muellner Scholarship for Aerospace Engineering is an annual award offered by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA). Applicants must be members of the AIAA, have completed at least one full semester of college work at an accredited U.S. college or university, be studying in a field to enter the aeronautics industry, and have at least a 3.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale. Application opens on October 1 each year.

American Atheists Student Activist Scholarships – $500-$1,000

American Atheists, an American atheist activist organization, offers several scholarships in the amount of $500 or $1,000 to atheist students at U.S. colleges and universities with documented histories of participating in activist causes. To qualify for the scholarship, students will need to submit relevant information about, and evidence of, their activism in the previous year, including student essays, photographs, letters, and testimonials from teachers, mentors, friends, or other activists. Applicants need not be U.S. citizens to be eligible but must attend U.S.-based institutions.

Cargill Global Scholars Program – $5,000

Cargill, a major American food corporation based in Minnesota, runs the Cargill Global Scholars Program (CGSP), a two-year scholarship program open to students in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Russia, and the United States. The program offers scholars financial support as well as leadership development opportunities through seminars, networking opportunities, and individual mentoring. To be eligible, applicants must be currently enrolled in either a high school, undergraduate school, or graduate school, which can be located anywhere in the world. The scholarship award is based on creativity, originality, detail, clear and articulate writing, and the student’s ability to formulate an opinion.

ISC Graduate Cybersecurity Scholarship – $1,000-$5,000

The ISC Graduate Cybersecurity Scholarship is annually awarded to graduate students pursuing careers in cyber security. The Center for Cyber Safety and Education will award up to 20 scholarships worth $1,000 to $5,000 to qualified students based on their academic and extracurricular achievements and career interest in cybersecurity. Applicants must be pursuing, or plan to pursue, a degree with a focus on cybersecurity or information assurance; be pursuing a master’s degree program or doctoral studies; meet a minimum GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale (or an analogous rank based on a comparable scale); be attending on campus or online; and be attending a university in the United States or internationally full-time or part-time. Applicants may be a U.S. citizen or the citizen of any other country.

ISC Women’s Cybersecurity Scholarship – $1,000-$5,000

The ISC2 Women’s Cybersecurity Scholarship is annually awarded to female students pursuing careers in cyber security. The Center for Cyber Safety and Education will award up to 10 scholarships worth $1,000 to $5,000 to qualified students based on their academic and extracurricular achievements and career interest in cybersecurity. Applicants must be pursuing, or plan to pursue, a degree with a focus on cybersecurity, information assurance or similar field; be pursuing an associate’s, undergraduate, graduate, or postgraduate degree; meet a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or an analogous rank based on a comparable scale); be attending on campus or online; and be attending university in the United States or internationally full-time or part-time. Applicants may be a U.S. citizen or the citizen of any other country.

ISC2 Undergraduate/Associate Cybersecurity Scholarship – $1,000-$5,000

The ISC Undergraduate/Associate Cybersecurity Scholarship is awarded to high school seniors and current undergraduates who are studying toward a degree related to cybersecurity or information assurance. The Center for Cyber Safety and Education will award up to 20 scholarships worth $1,000 to $5,000 to qualified students based on their academic and extracurricular achievements and career interest in cybersecurity. Applicants must be pursuing, or plan to pursue, a degree with a focus on cybersecurity, information assurance or similar field in the upcoming fall semester; be pursuing an associate’s or undergraduate degree; meet a minimum GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or an analogous rank based on a comparable scale); be attending on campus or online; and be attending universities in the United States or Internationally full-time or part-time. Applicants may be a U.S. citizen or the citizen of any other country.

ISA Educational Foundation Scholarships – $5,000

International Society of Automation (ISA) scholarships are offered to students pursuing careers in the fields of automation and control. Applicants must be enrolled in a two-, three-, or four-year undergraduate or graduate program in instrumentation, systems, or automation at an educational institution in their home countries.

Morehead-Cain Scholarship – Full tuition, room and board

Established in 1945 and inspired by the Rhodes Scholarship at Oxford University, the Morehead-Cain Scholarship is a merit scholarship awarded by the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill to “exceptional student leaders.” The program covers four years of tuition, room and board. It also provides and funds “life-changing summer enrichment and extracurricular learning experiences.” To qualify, applicants must be on track to graduate high school in the spring, be a competitive applicant to UNC Chapel Hill, and either be nominated by their high school or an affiliate program, or are applying independently.

MPOWER Global Citizen Scholarship – Up to $10,000

Offered by MPOWER Financing, which provides private student loans to international and DACA students in the United States and Canada, the MPOWER Global Citizen Scholarship is awarded annually to international and DACA students enrolled at schools MPOWER supports in the United States or Canada. Three scholarships are awarded each year in the amount of $10,000 (Grand Prize), $2,000 (Runner-Up), and $2,000 (Honorable Mention). Applicants must be accepted at, or enrolled in, a full-time degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports, and be an international student allowed to legally study in the United States (including DACA) or Canada. Applicants need not be MPOWER borrowers to apply for this scholarship.

MPOWER MBA Scholarship – Up to $10,000

Offered by MPOWER Financing, which provides private student loans to international and DACA students in the United States and Canada, the MPOWER MBA Scholarship is awarded annually to international and DACA students enrolled at schools MPOWER supports in the United States or Canada. Three scholarships are awarded each year in the amount of $10,000 (Grand Prize) and $2,000 (two Honorable Mentions). Applicants must be accepted at, or enrolled in, a full-time MBA degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports, and be an international student allowed to legally study in the United States (including DACA) or Canada. MPOWER Monthly Scholarships for International Students – Up to $2,000

Offered by MPOWER Financing, which provides private student loans to international and DACA students in the United States and Canada, the MPOWER Monthly Scholarship Series is awarded monthly to international and DACA students enrolled at schools MPOWER supports in the United States or Canada. The theme varies each month and is available on the first day of the month. The application period for each month’s scholarship ends on the last Friday of the month. Three scholarships are awarded each year in the amount of $2,000 (Grand Prize) and $1,000 (two Honorable Mentions). Applicants must be accepted at, or enrolled in, a full-time degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports, and be an international student allowed to legally study in the United States (including DACA) or Canada. MPOWER Refugee Scholarship – Up to $3,000

Offered by MPOWER Financing, which provides private student loans to international and DACA students in the United States and Canada, the MPOWER Refugee Scholarship is a quarterly award intended to support students who are fleeing harsh conditions from around the world and are immigrating to the United States or Canada for a better future. Three scholarships are awarded each quarter in the amount of $3,000 (Grand Prize), and $1,000 (two Honorable Mentions). Applicants must be accepted at, or enrolled in, a full-time degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports, and be an international student allowed to legally study in the United States or Canada through one of the following: be a refugee or asylee from any country (or pursuing such status); have a Temporary Protected Status; or be a beneficiary of Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) status. Applicants need not be MPOWER borrowers to apply for this scholarship.

MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship – Up to $6,000

Offered by MPOWER Financing, which provides private student loans to international and DACA students in the United States and Canada, the MPOWER Women in STEM Scholarship is awarded annually to female international/DACA students who are currently enrolled, or accepted to study, full-time in a STEM degree program at a program MPOWER supports in the United States or Canada. Three scholarships are awarded each year in the amount of $6,000 (Grand Prize), $2,000 (Runner-Up), and $1,000 (Honorable Mention). Applicants must be: at least 18 years of age; female, accepted at, or enrolled in, a full-time STEM degree program at a U.S. or Canadian school that MPOWER supports for the remainder of the student’s undergraduate study and/or for a graduate degree program; and an international student allowed to legally study in the United States (including DACA) or Canada. Applicants need not be MPOWER borrowers to apply for this scholarship.

Walter Byers Graduate Scholarship – $24,000 per year (renewable for a second year)

Each year, through the Walter Byers Graduate Scholarship program, the NCAA awards $24,000 scholarships to one male and one female student-athlete for their outstanding academic achievements and potential to excel in graduate studies. Applicants must have competed in varsity intercollegiate athletics at an NCAA institution, be enrolled full-time in graduate study or be a graduating senior with intentions of applying for admission into a graduate degree program, and have at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Rolex Scholarship – $30,000 (North America), £25,000 (Europe), Aus$40,000 (Australasia)

Swiss luxury watch brand Rolex runs an international scholarship program in partnership with the Our World Underwater Scholarship Society. This scholarship is open to students from North America, Europe, and Australasia who are certified as a rescue diver or equivalent with a minimum of 25 dives in the past two years. Applicants must be between the ages of 21 and 26 at the application deadline. All applicants must have health insurance. Recipients of the scholarship must complete a diving medical examination form. PEO International Peace Scholarships – $12,500

PEO International Peace Scholarships are for women from countries other than the United States and Canada to fund graduate study in the United States and Canada.
