NAACP x Society Awards Scholarship – Up to $5,000
The NAACP x Society Awards Scholarship is one of many awards available to Black students and students of color through NAACP’s Inspire Initiatives. Each year, three awards in the amount of $5,000, $2,000, and $1,000 each are awarded to outstanding students pursuing undergraduate degrees. Applicants must be a member of the NAACP; be Black or a person of color; be currently enrolled full-time or accepted to an accredited college or university in the United States; be a graduating high school senior or undergraduate student; demonstrate interest in pursuing a career in the visual/performing arts field (e.g., film, theatre, fashion, photography, graphic design, dance, music, journalism, or mass communications); and be a U.S. resident or citizen.
Point Foundation Scholarship – Varies
The Point Foundation offers three types of scholarship programs: the Point Flagship Scholarship, the Point BIPOC Scholarship, and the Point Foundation Community College Scholarship. The Point Flagship Scholarship is meant for LGBTQ students who are earning their undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees at accredited colleges in the United States. The Point BIPOC Scholarship provides financial, coaching, and community support to Black, Indigenous, and People of Color students. Point Foundation BIPOC Scholarship – Up to $1,500
Offered by the Point Foundation, the Point BIPOC Scholarship supports Black, Indigenous, and People of Color students who also identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students. In addition to financial support, Point BIPOC scholarship recipients receive community resources and professional development. The foundation assesses applicants on many factors, including financial need or independence, personal history, academic achievement, community involvement, and work experience. To qualify, students must identify as a member of the BIPOC community and LGBTQ, be enrolled or intending to enroll at an accredited community college, four-year college/university, or graduate program in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska, and be enrolled full-time or part-time (six credits) for the funded term. Students in college or universities in a U.S. territory or post-doctoral program are not eligible for the scholarship.
Robert L. Wesley Award – $10,000
The SOM Foundation created the Robert L. Wesley Award in 2020 to honor its first Black partner. Each year, the foundation awards $10,000 to three BIPOC undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited architecture, landscape architecture, interior architecture, urban design, or engineering undergraduate program in the United States, in addition to a year-long mentorship program that connects the students with leading BIPOC practitioners and educators. Applicants must be enrolled in a four- or five-year undergraduate program but can be enrolled in any year of their undergraduate program. Applications open in September each year.
NATAS Inclusion Scholarship – $10,000
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) — known best for its Emmy Awards — annually awards, through its Foundation, the NATAS Inclusion Scholarship to a student pursuing a career in any aspect of the television industry, who identifies as Black, Indigenous, or a person of color.
ACS Scholars Program – $1,000-$5,000
American Chemical Society Scholarships are annually awarded to minority students who are interested in pursuing careers in chemistry-related science. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents, be African-American/Black, Hispanic/Latino, or American Indian, be graduating high school seniors or current undergraduate students, plan to major or currently be majoring in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, chemical technology, or another chemistry-related science, and meet a minimum 3.0 GPA requirement.
