Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship & Excellence in Education Program

Amount: $15,000. About: The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship & Excellence in Education Program, which requires nomination by a Goldwater Campus Representative, provides scholarships to students who wish to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering. Applicants must be full-time, degree-pursuing sophomores or juniors at an accredited 2- or 4-year institution of higher education, plan to pursue a research career in a natural science, mathematics or engineering, have a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, and be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. To be considered for a nomination for a Goldwater Scholarship by your academic institution, you must first complete and submit a short Student Profile and Pre-application — individual internal campus deadlines fall between early September and late January of each academic year.

Eligible Majors: Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Sciences, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Life Sciences, Geosciences, Materials Research, Mathematical Sciences, Physics, Astronomy, Psychology
Residency Requirement: No residency requirement
Minimum GPA: 3.0
