Amount: $30,000. About: The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Program annually provides generous scholarships to third-year college students who wish to further their education and pursue careers in government, education, the nonprofit sector, or the public interest/advocacy sector. The program is selective and has an extensive list of criteria that students should meet. However, there are only two legal requirements that applicants must meet. Applicants must U.S. citizens (or expecting citizenship by the date of the award) and be full-time students pursuing bachelor’s degrees in their penultimate year of school (for candidates graduating in four years or more) or in their final year of school (for candidates graduating in three years or fewer).
